The subject of improved India-China
relations has gained significant importance in recent times with
the emergence of the two neighbours as the vital pillars of the
Asian socio-economic-and political framework.
The India-China Forum of Parliamentarians
(ICFP), in this regard, is a significant initiative undertaken by
the Indian Parliamentarians and supported by the Federation of Indian
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Cutting across party
lines, the Forum seeks to encourage inter-parliamentary dialogue
on bilateral issues and will serve as a medium for promoting track
II diplomacy.
Formed in January 2008, the ICFP will
organize Parliamentary delegation visits, interactive sessions,
and round-table conferences, which would focus on stimulating discussion
and action on issues of mutual concern between India and China.
The Forum aims to enable and visualize an open debate among the
Parliamentarians and senior government officials representing the
two countries regarding the solutions to the problems faced by the
two nations. MORE>>>
